Join us on this ultimate snowmobile and Glacier Ice cave adventure as an add on to your Golden Circle tour. Iceland is known for its big glaciers, high waterfalls and erupting geyser, on this tour you can see and experience all in one day.
We will start the day in Reykjavik, where you will hop on our comfortable bus and set off to the top attractions in Iceland.
We will be making our first stop at Þingvellir National Park, where the oldest parliament in the world was founded. This is the place where the tectonic plates are pulling apart every day.
After visiting Þingvellir we will head on through lava fields and farmlands until we see Strokkur geyser rise from the ground. Geysir geothermal area is a very unique place where you can see hot springs all around you. We will stop here around one hour so you will be able to see Strokkur erupt few times before we head on to Gullfoss waterfall. Gullfoss is one of the best known waterfalls in Iceland. It looks great on photos but it is even more magnificent in person.
To make this tour better than other Golden Circle tours, we will complete the day with going on a super jeep ride up to Langjokull glacier. Langjokull is the second largest glacier in Europe, after Vatnajokull glacier. Once we reach the glacier, we will gear up and go for an unforgettable snowmobile ride on top of the glacier. The guide will lead you to a crystal like glacier ice cave. The ice cave lies underneath thick layers of snow.
After we have explored the ice cave for some time, we will ride the snowmobiles back to the glacier hut and head on to Reykjavik after a day full of sightseeing and activities. This is a day to remember!
The first stop on the this Golden Circle tour is at Þingvellir National Park. Þingvellir will welcome you with stunning views over the rift valley. A UNESCO heritage site with beautiful geographical features and a rich political history.
Þingvellir is a key location in Icelandic history as it is the oldest existing parliament in the world, first assembled there in 930 AD. Þingvellir is a protected national park due to its unique geology and natural features. You will be able to see Almannagjá canyon, where the two tectonic plates are pulling apart every day.
On this first stop of the day, you can walk around the national park and get to know more about the history and natural wonders of this unique place.
Our next stop is Geysir hot springs. This is one of the most iconic Iceland natural site. Geysir hot springs are home to the original erupting geyser, and the reason that the word geyser is used for spouting hot springs all over the world today.
This geothermal area became active more than 1.000 years ago and comprises more than a dozen hot spring holes.
Here you will see boiling mud pits and Strokkur geyser which spouts water 30 meters into the air every few minutes.
Let’s start the action part of this tour with a snowmobile tour on Langjökull glacier. Get even closer to Iceland’s nature with a snowmobiling ride up on the glacier. Langjökull is Iceland’s second largest glacier, and the second largest glacier in Europe.
Once we reach the parking lot at Gullfoss, we will drive up to Langjökull glacier in a specially modified off road vehicle. You will receive the appropriate equipment for this tour, a full outfit, helmets, overalls, overshoes, gloves and a hat.
The snowmobiling tour will last for around 3,5 hours on the glacier.
We will not only go snowmobiling on this tour, but we will also visit a man made Ice Cave in the outskirts of Langjökull.
When we arrive at the Ice Cave we will explore every corner and detail of it. The Glacier Guides will inform you about everything you want to know about the Glacier.
After nearly 3,5 hours up on the glacier we will head back to Gullfoss waterfall. Gullfoss is one of the most powerful waterfalls in Iceland. There the glacier water thunders down 32 meters in three steps and into a narrow canyon. The waterfall is even more magnificent when you see it in real life.
As one of the most popular attractions in all of Iceland, Gullfoss is a waterfall located in the canyon of Hvítá river in the southwest of the country. On clear days the magnificent Langjökull glacier, Iceland’s second largest glacier, can be seen in the distance.
